Bamboo carving, also known as bamboo carving, is to carve decorative patterns and characters on bamboo implements, or use bamboo roots to carve ornaments. Jinghuang bamboo carving originated from the palace bamboo reed craft of Qing Dynasty and flourished in the Qianlong period. It got its name because it was carved on the surface of the reed on the inner wall of bamboo. It is also called bamboo Ivory because of its steady color, simple and lustrous. Ancient scholars described it as ivory. Now, Jinghuang bamboo carving has become a provincial intangible cultural heritage project in Hebei Province.

Wang Leshu of Zhanggang village, Zhanggang Township, Xiong county is the inheritor of this intangible cultural heritage project. Wang said the technique was introduced into Xiongxian in the late Qing Dynasty. At that time, a court sculptor was in a state of desperation. He fled from Beijing to Xiongxian county and was accepted by Wang Qingtian, Wang's grandfather. This artist taught Wang Qingtian the art of palace carving, and Wang Qingtian passed it on to the next generation, so that the art of palace bamboo carving was handed down in Xiongxian county.
